A magazine that will not come out is a worse problem than a magazine that will not go in. Polymer base pads are smooth by design, and when a mag swells, sticks or seats past flush, there is nothing to pull against — particularly with wet hands or gloves. These give you something to grip.
On rifle mags they do a second job: index your loadout by feel and colour, so you know what you are reaching for in the dark without reading a label.
Backed with 3M Low Surface Energy adhesive, which grips mechanically rather than bonding chemically — it holds through heat and recoil and still comes off clean.
