About Combat Textiles

Who is Combat Textiles?

Combat Textiles is a U.S.-based manufacturer of custom Cordura® wraps for firearm grips, weapon lights, optics, stocks and other tactical accessories. Our products are designed to provide added protection to the firearm, durability and enhanced handling while maintaining a professional appearance.

Every product is made in the USA and undergoes extensive testing before release.

Where are Combat Textiles wraps made?

In the USA. Fabric is sourced domestically and every wrap is cut and packed in Pennsylvania.

What is a Cordura wrap?

A Cordura wrap is a precision-cut adhesive-backed covering made from 1000 Denier Cordura® nylon. Combat Textiles uses this material to create wraps that conform to specific firearm components and accessories.

Cordura is widely used in military and tactical applications because of its durability, abrasion resistance and weather resistance.

What makes Combat Textiles different from traditional gun grip tape?

Unlike traditional gun grip tape, Combat Textiles products are made from 1000D Cordura® nylon rather than abrasive materials. This provides a textured surface while also offering durability, waterproof protection and resistance to wear.

Combat Textiles wraps are custom-cut for specific firearm models and accessories for a precise fit.

The material

What material are Combat Textiles wraps made from?

1000 Denier Cordura® nylon with a polyurethane coating. The same type of heavy-duty material commonly used in military gear, backpacks, protective equipment and tactical accessories.

What are the benefits of using grip tape for guns?
  • Enhanced grip and handling
  • Highly abrasion-resistant construction
  • Waterproof and non-porous material
  • Flame-resistant and self-extinguishing properties
  • UV-resistant performance
  • Antibacterial and breathable material
  • IR-reflecting properties

These features make Combat Textiles wraps a durable upgrade for everyday carry, range use and tactical applications.

Are Combat Textiles wraps waterproof? Does Cordura hold moisture?

Cordura material is 100% waterproof and non-porous. It does not absorb water the way traditional fabrics do, and it dries quickly.

The material is designed to withstand demanding environments while maintaining its performance and appearance, including rain, humidity and sweat.

Is Cordura Berry compliant and IR compliant?

Yes. The Cordura® we cut is Berry compliant and IR / IRR treated, so a wrapped weapon signatures the same as issued kit under NODs.

Fabric is sourced in the USA and product is made in the USA.

How long does a wrap last?

Typical wrap life is around 2 years / 10,000 rounds. That is what we have seen from wraps in regular use, not a guarantee — how long yours lasts depends on how hard the firearm is carried, cleaned and shot.

A wrap is a wear item by design. When it is worn, peel it and fit a new one.

Is Cordura better than stippling?

They serve different purposes. Stippling is a permanent modification to the frame. A wrap adds grip, comfort and protection without permanently altering the firearm.

Customers choose Cordura because it is removable, does not damage clothing, is more comfortable for concealed carry, protects the finish and allows easy color and pattern changes.

Does grip tape help with concealed carry?

Yes. It improves control while maintaining comfort. Unlike aggressive sandpaper-style grip tape, Cordura adds traction without being abrasive against skin, clothing or holsters.

Fit and compatibility

How do I find the wrap for my exact firearm?

Use the fitment finder on the homepage. Pick what you are wrapping, then the brand, then the model, and it takes you straight to the product that fits.

You can also browse by platform on the handgun catalog or the rifle and shotgun catalog.

Do Combat Textiles wraps affect firearm performance?

Wraps are designed to fit specific firearm components and accessories without interfering with normal operation when installed correctly.

Always ensure the wrap is properly aligned during installation and does not obstruct moving parts, controls or sighting systems.

Does a wrap affect optic performance?

No. Optic wraps cover only the exterior housing. They do not interfere with lenses, controls, adjustments, battery compartments or operation when properly installed.

Will the firearm still fit in my holster?

Grip wraps add a thin layer to the grip only, and most holsters retain on the trigger guard, slide or frame rather than the grip, so fit is usually unaffected.

Holsters vary. If yours is cut tight around the grip, or you run a light or optic wrap inside a molded holster, check fit and retention before carrying.

Why would I wrap a weapon light?
  • Protects the finish from scratches and wear
  • Adds camouflage or personalization
  • Improves grip during manipulation
  • Reduces cosmetic damage from hard use
  • Protects the light from carbon buildup

This is especially useful for lights that extend beyond the muzzle, such as SureFire X300 models, Streamlight TLR-1 HL and HL-X models, and the Holosun PID.

What products can Combat Textiles wraps be used on?
  • Handgun grips
  • Rifle grips and stocks
  • Optics
  • Weapon-mounted lights
  • Magazines
  • Hearing protection and other gear
  • Gaming accessories such as Xbox and PlayStation controllers

Availability depends on the specific firearm or accessory model.

Do you really make wraps for game controllers?

Yes. The same 1000D Cordura® and the same 3M adhesive, cut for Xbox and PlayStation controllers. It adds grip and hides wear on the areas your hands sit on, and it comes off clean.

Do you make wraps for something you do not list?

Often, yes. Send us the item through custom cutting and we will tell you whether we can cut a pattern for it.

Which Glock magazine wrap do I need?

Our double-stack magazine strip is cut for the Glock factory +2 base pad, OEM part SP07151. It fits Glock 17, 19, 22, 23, 26, 27, 31, 32, 33, 34 and 35 double-stack magazines in 9mm, .40 S&W and .357 SIG — including the G19X, G45 and G47, which run full-size magazines.

Slimline models such as the 43, 43X and 48, and other pistols, have their own dedicated strips — see magazine wraps.

Installation, removal and care

How do I install Combat Textiles Cordura® grip wraps?
  • Clean the application area with an alcohol wipe and allow it to dry completely
  • Remove the 3M adhesive liner
  • Carefully align the wrap and apply it lightly to the surface
  • Adjust as needed within the first 20 minutes
  • Apply pressure across the entire wrap to activate adhesion
  • Optional: use mild heat, such as a blow dryer, to further strengthen adhesion

Detailed installation help and visual instructions are on the installation guide.

Can I put a wrap on a firearm that already has stippling or old grip tape residue?

The adhesive needs a clean, smooth, dry surface to grip. Remove any old tape and residue first with a mild adhesive remover or rubbing alcohol, then let the surface dry fully.

Stippling is a different problem. A stippled or heavily textured frame gives the adhesive far less contact area, so adhesion will be reduced and we do not recommend it.

Does grip tape damage a firearm?

No. We use a premium 3M adhesive designed to adhere securely while remaining removable. When installed and removed properly, the wrap will not damage the finish.

As with any adhesive-backed product, removal should be performed carefully and slowly.

Can I remove the wrap later?

Yes. Wraps are removable without permanent modification to the firearm or accessory. Peel slowly.

Will it leave residue?

In most cases little to none. Any remaining adhesive can typically be cleaned with a mild adhesive remover or rubbing alcohol.

What should I do if the edges begin to fray?

Quickly singe any loose threads with a lighter or torch. Take care to avoid burning beyond the frayed ends and damaging the material.

What should I do if I have installation issues?

Contact the support team through the contact page and we will help you sort it out.

Will the same pattern match across grip, light and optic wraps?
